Climb Overview
Camping | Quiet & Scenic Route | Gentle Gradients
The Rongai Route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border and is one of the quietest routes on the mountain. Its gradual ascent profile, drier climate, and low traffic make it an excellent option for climbers seeking a peaceful trekking experience away from the busier southern routes.
The route offers unique views of Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes and often provides opportunities to spot wildlife during the early stages of the trek. Descent is via the Marangu Route, allowing climbers to experience two different sides of the mountain.
